The Miami-Dade LGBTA Caucus passed a Resolution asking the Miami-Dade Democratic party to add LGBTQ+ rights to their plank

RESOLUTION Adding LGBTQ+ Rights to Miami-Dade DEC Plank and Florida Democratic Party Plank.

 

WHEREAS the modern Pride celebrated worldwide in commemoration of LGBTQ+ rights was founded by trans women of color, drag queens, and queer folk resisting arrest at Stonewall Inn; and

 

WHEREAS the county of Miami-Dade has a history of supporting the LGBTQ+ community and has ordinances that protect LGBTQ+ population, and for these reasons and more, Pride festivities held throughout the County of Miami-Dade or the State of Florida hold a special significance and are both attended and viewed by thousands worldwide; and

 

WHEREAS the Democratic Party has a long history of supporting and uplifting the LGBTQ+ community, through resolutions, bills, engagement, and

 

WHEREAS all segments of the LGBTQ+ community including those undocumented, incarcerated, impoverished, and otherwise marginalized by society deserve equal representation and respect within the movement for equality, but have not always found it; and

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Miami-Dade Democratic Party states that they support and will defend at all times, the rights, needs and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community, and will ensure to include  LGBTQ+ rights onto their planks.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Miami-Dade Democratic Party requests that that State of Florida Democratic Party also state that they support and will defend at all times, the rights, needs and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community, and will ensure to include  LGBTQ+ rights onto their planks.
